Lions' WC dreams suffer major blow

Singapore's dreams of World Cup qualification hang by a thread after they slumped to a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Jordan at the Jalan Besar Stadium on Tuesday.
Goals from Abdallah Deeb, Anas Bani Yaseen and Ahmad Hayel consigned the hosts to their third straight defeat and sent them to the bottom of the Group A table.
With nine points still to play for, Singapore can still mathematically qualify for the playoffs - but will need to win all three of the remaining games to have any chance - a tall order given that they have to travel to Jordan and Iraq for two of those games.
